For a baby’s birthday, a wedding reception, Christmas party, graduation… no matter what the occasion, it’s a good idea to create slideshow movies or DVD discs with great photos, video clips and music. A good slide show helps to tell a story, convey the feelings, preserve the unforgettable moments, and more. With a slideshow creator, you can easily organize photos, videos and music and turn them into an informative and vivid slideshow movie. You can even burn slideshow onto a DVD disc for playing on TV.
In this post, I’d like to show how you can make a slide show of photos and videos and burn slideshow to DVD on Mac OS X using DVD Creator for Mac. Below are the steps:
1. Download and install DVD Creator
2. Add photo or video files
Unlike most Mac slideshow makers, DVD Creator for Mac allows you to import both photos and videos as the source media files.
Note: If you own an old Mac machine, you only need to use the pre-installed iDVD application to help you burn slideshow DVD with photos and videos. However, iDVD was no longer preinstalled on Macs shipping with OS X 10.7 Lion and is also not available on the Mac App Store. It is only available in the boxed copy of iLife ’11. So for those who use new Macs running Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks, Mac DVD Creator is a pretty good replacement to iDVD and an ideal tool for slideshow DVD burning.
There are two ways to add files. You can directly drag the photo or video files into the app. Or you just click the add icon to add them. After that, you can click the up and down arrows to rearrange the order. You can combine several video files into one single file by dragging videos together.
3. Edit media files
For video files:
Highlight a video you need and then click Edit. Editing functions include crop, rotate, split, trim, add watermark, set special effects, etc. All the settings you apply can be previewed instantly in the right window.
For photos, you can also personalize them by adjusting the transition effects, adding text and background music.
4. Set DVD menu
There are more than 90 sets of free animated and static DVD menu styles available. To make a custom menu, just click Menu to choose a suitable menu style for your DVD, and then customize it according to your needs. You can also choose to create a slideshow DVD without menu.
5. Burn DVD
After all the editing, you can click the Preview button to preview your DVD project. If it is ready, click the Burn button and choose the DVD Disc option from the pop-up window. Give your new DVD a name and click Save.
Note: If your DVD project is larger than 4.7G and you don’t have a DVD9 disc, just insert a D5 disc, the program will compress it automatically.
