What is DRM?
DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. DRM is a form of security implemented into many different types of media files to prevent unauthorised distribution of that media. Online media providers such as iTunes and Amazon, implant DRM into all of their user purchased media downloads. This DRM can be used to limit the amount of devices the media can be played on, a time limit on when the media can be used and prevent copying the media at all. Now while this is a great way to stop a movie, song or T.V show from being purchased once and then distributed around the world for free, it’s also a way that limits the rights of the person who bought that media, this means that despite paying for the media, you don’t have as many rights as you think you do, particularly as companies tend to sell a licence to use that media and not the actual media to you. So this now brings me onto why Aimersoft DRM converter is an essential bit of software if you plan to use your own media on multiple devices.
Why this DRM converter is needed
This converter is needed if you want to unlock the full rights you deserve when purchasing a bit of media from a digital retailer. I will point out that whilst using DRM software to distribute files to other people is illegal, you are actually well within your rights to remove DRM for your personal use so long as you are the original purchaser of said file, this is legal.
How to use Aimersoft DRM Media Converter to Remove DRM
Using Aimersoft to remove DRM is a really easy process. You start off by selecting the file or files you want converting, this can be done by either clicking the add button and selecting the file or files from the desired folder, or by simply dragging the media from the files into the Aimersoft U.I window.
Once you have your desired file or files selected you now need make sure your converted file is going to save where you like it too, so simply use the browse button next to the tab called “Output Path” at the bottom of the U.I and select your desired folder.
If you do have any other concerns such as the quality or type of file you can select from different file types in music and video to convert your file to. If you’re feeling very adventurous you can even change parameters in both audio and video files. This includes things such as frame rate, resolution, sample rate, encoder and so much more.
Once all of the above is done and the last step if needed, you can simply press the “start” button and the software will do the work itself. Once the conversation is completed you are free to use your media as you intend, so long as you aren’t distributing it to other people.
My Experience With Aimersoft
I found using Aimersoft to be very easy. I feel that the layout of the User Interface is very simple and really helps you to get where you want pretty much as soon as you open the software. I would describe the User Interface as very clean and very user friendly.
Converting my DRM files was easy and took little to no time at all for music but did take a bit longer for movies, however this is expected.
I’m a huge fan of the preview window which helps to ensure you have definitely selected the right file to convert.
